If you’ve been feeling a pull to create, to do something meaningful, but it feels like nothing is moving forward, this post is for you. Perhaps you’re following your dream but wondering if your steps are leading anywhere. You’re not alone.

Looking back on ten years of running United Art Space, I want to share the highs, the lows, and everything in between: how I got here, and how I’ve navigated the challenges.

Celebrating Art and Creativity

We’re about to run Kickstart Your Art, a three-day live event celebrating artists, creativity, and empowerment. It’s about showing up fully for your art, living intentionally, and creating confidently.

The Early Days: Lost but Determined

Ten years ago, I had no idea United Art Space would exist today. I tried everything: physical studio spaces, exhibitions, job applications. I struggled to sell my art and felt lost.

Yet, I knew I wanted to remain in the creative world, to connect with artists, and to find freedom in how I spent my days. ADHD, dyslexia, a busy brain, babies at home – it didn’t fit a conventional job. But I was determined to create a life around my creativity.

Planting Seeds of Opportunity

A magazine article, a chance conversation and small events led to a realisation: I could set up my own business. I needed a space, a community, and the freedom to create. Opportunities came, many failing, but each was a lesson. Returning to pure joy, connecting artists, running art challenges – that became my compass.

Trust Yourself, Even Amid Criticism

Building an online presence was new and daunting. I wanted instant results, which led to frustration. But when I stopped fixating on outcomes and followed my joy, the right opportunities followed. I’ve learned to trust my voice, even when critics are harsh. What feels true to you will resonate with someone – your people are out there.

Learning to Stretch Beyond Limits

Early on, I normalised low earnings and small goals. £50,000 felt huge; surpassing it was shocking. Today, I earn multiple six-figures. The lesson: expand your tolerance, stretch your boundaries, and don’t fear the next level – be it in money, art, or impact.

Looking Forward

Ten years in, I’m still learning, still winging it, and still growing. The next chapter of United ArtSpace is about empowering artists, connecting with your truth, and embracing the journey. Start with your passion, and let business, money, and recognition follow.

Your creativity is valuable. Your words, your art, and your presence can touch lives. Trust the process, embrace the ebb and flow, and celebrate your own journey.
