I Wish I Was In Flow More. Then A Friend Asked Me Something I Wasn’t Expecting.

I said it out loud a few weeks ago to my friend Sharon.

I wish I was in flow more. I wish I had more abundance. More money. More of that feeling where everything is effortless and ideas are just coming and time disappears and you’re completely in it.

And what came back from her completely changed the way I was looking at things.

The Season I’m Currently In

My work has felt heavy lately. That’s the honest word for it.

Usually I know exactly where I’m going. I have a clear vision, a clear sense of purpose, and a feeling of alignment that makes the work feel almost effortless. But right now, there are question marks everywhere.

I’m redoing The 7 Keys course and questioning everything about it. I’m learning someone else’s framework at a speaking seminar, which is completely new territory for me. I’ve got ideas about in person art classes that are still taking shape. My own art feels messy and unclear.

Everything is in a kind of exploratory, in between place. And when you’ve spent years feeling focused and aligned, that uncertainty has a way of knocking your confidence.

So I told Sharon exactly how I was feeling. That I missed flow. That I couldn’t wait to get back to it.

And she asked me a question I wasn’t expecting.

Which Parts Of Your Life Are In Flow Right Now?

That was it. That was the question.

After that, I started a list: When I write and journal, I’m in flow. When I draw. When I’m listening to music. When I’m dancing around the kitchen. I am in flow. Every single day, flow is showing up in my life. I just hadn’t been paying attention to it because I was so focused on where it was missing.

I’d been waiting to arrive at some future version of things where flow had returned, without noticing it was already here in so many forms.

That was a big moment for me.

The Same Principle Applies To Abundance

I’ve been having similar conversations with people recently around abundance and money. And the same pattern keeps coming up.

When we’re craving more of something, we tend to fix our attention on the lack of it. On how far away it feels. On how different life will be once we finally have it. And in doing that, we make the gap feel bigger and bigger.

But what if you already have what you’re looking for, just not in the form you expected?

I’ve been through periods of real financial difficulty, and the thing that helped me get out of that feeling of scarcity was deliberately focusing on what I did have. Free resources. Free events. Things people gave me. Small things that reminded me abundance already existed in my life in some form. That focus shifted my energy enough that things started to move again.

Where you focus, your energy flows. I’ve seen it work too many times to dismiss it.

Don’t Wait Until You Arrive

If there’s something you’re wishing for right now, something you keep telling yourself you’ll feel better once you have, I want to encourage you to look for where it already exists.

It might not look the way you expected. It might be in a completely different part of your life. But it’s probably already there if you look for it.

Find it. Feel it. Focus on it now.

That’s the switch and it’s already working for me.
