Lacking Money & Time? This Is What I Do…
A Universal December Dilemma
As December rolls in, many of us feel the pinch of limited time and money. The festive season is rife with expenses—school events, holiday commitments, and social obligations—all stacking up before we even realise it. Reflecting on my own experiences, I often find myself overcommitted, both in time and finances, and the resulting anxiety is all too familiar. But this year, I’ve embarked on a journey to shift my mindset from scarcity to abundance—and it’s working wonders.
Shifting Focus: From Scarcity to Abundance
Inspired by The Abundance Book by John Randolph Price, I’ve dedicated 40 days to a practice of daily reflection, journaling, and visualisation. Now on day eight, the transformation has been remarkable. This book isn’t about wealth as a sole measure of abundance but rather about recognising the richness already present in our lives.
For instance, instead of focusing on the ever-present “not enough”—whether it’s time, money, or energy—I’m redirecting my attention to gratitude and abundance. The result? A newfound sense of optimism and excitement for the future, even though my external circumstances haven’t changed.
Recognising Everyday Abundance
Over the past week, I’ve experienced moments of unexpected generosity that have reaffirmed this mindset shift.
- The Gift of Connection
A friend, Cassandra, who happens to be a travelling nomad and energy healer, stayed with me recently. Although I wasn’t feeling well, her visit turned into a delightful experience. She worked with me energetically and even treated me to a rare evening out—an act of kindness that left me feeling deeply appreciated and abundant. - Unexpected Blessings
At my children’s school Christmas fair, a friend won a raffle prize and gifted me a £500 soundbar. Such acts of generosity reminded me that abundance isn’t always monetary—it’s also about the love and care we receive. - A Refund Surprise
After a frustrating travel experience that resulted in unexpected charges, I decided to let go of my annoyance. To my astonishment, the airline reached out to apologise and issued a refund. This was yet another reminder of the unexpected ways abundance can flow into our lives.
The Power of a Mindset Shift
One passage from the book resonated deeply with me: “Money is not my supply. No person, place, or condition is my supply. My awareness of the divine mind within me is my supply.”
This reminded me that true abundance comes from within, not from external sources. When I focus on gratitude and the richness already in my life, I find more reasons to feel fulfilled.
Designing a Life of Abundance
As I prepare for 2025, I’ve chosen abundance as my guiding word. Each January, I host a workshop on designing your best year—a process that has profoundly shaped my life. This year, I’ll be incorporating the lessons from my abundance journey to help others shift their focus from scarcity to gratitude and possibility.
Your Turn: Look for Abundance
This week, I encourage you to notice the abundance around you. It could be as simple as a kind gesture, a moment of quiet beauty, or the warmth of a loved one’s presence. During challenging times, recognising and embracing these moments can transform your outlook.
As we navigate the complexities of this season, let’s commit to spreading joy and giving back, just as others have done for us. Here’s to a more abundant, joyful December and beyond.
Take care, and have a wonderful week filled with abundance!
