Feel Your Vision, Don’t Just See It

This week, I found myself holding a small leaf from a special tree in my office, and it sparked a journey through some thoughts on vision and self-belief. Let me take you back to where it started.

When I launched my book, we added this tree as a centerpiece for the event. It wasn’t quite what I envisioned—shorter than expected, more like a Christmas tree without any leaves, just bare branches. But that didn’t matter, because it became something magical. My friend Sharon made little paper leaves, and everyone who came wrote messages on them, each one holding a little piece of encouragement, joy, and vision. After the event, I kept the tree. Now, it sits in my office, where every now and then, I pull off a leaf and find some insight to carry forward.

Today’s leaf reminded me of a simple but powerful mantra: “Why not me?” It’s a question that’s come up often in conversations lately. Many of us can see a bright future in our minds—a thriving business, a breakthrough art show, financial goals, or recognition. But then doubt creeps in, convincing us that these things might be for others, but not for us. Why? We start mentally listing all the “reasons” we think we can’t achieve our dreams. Maybe we don’t feel talented enough, experienced enough, or “qualified” in some way.

But let’s turn this around. Instead of “Why not me?” holding us back, let it push us forward. Imagine saying it with excitement: “Why not me?” If others can create fulfilling lives aligned with their vision, then why not us too?

Seeing the Vision, But More Than That

Visualizing a goal is a powerful practice. I’ve long used visualization to connect to my goals, playing a mental movie of where I want to be and feeling the joy of it. But seeing the goal is only part of the journey. What really drives us forward is feeling that vision as if it’s already happening.

I recently set a financial goal for next year. But it’s not just about numbers. I’m visualizing what that financial success will allow me to do—donating to charities, sending my children to an amazing learning experience at Mindvalley University, supporting my team at United Art Space. These aren’t just ideas on paper; I take time every day to feel the excitement, the fulfillment, and even the contentment that these achievements will bring. This emotional connection gives my vision depth and energy that simple visualization alone couldn’t capture.

The Emotional Compass

Feelings are important indicators, like a compass, signaling when we’re on the right path. When I start to feel positive about my goals, my energy lifts, my motivation grows, and I sense a deep alignment with my purpose. But if doubts creep in, bringing me down, that’s a cue to examine what’s holding me back. Am I letting old beliefs sabotage my vision? Do I still hold onto outdated thoughts like “I’m not good enough” or “I didn’t go to the right school”?

When we consciously choose to feel our vision and immerse ourselves in the emotions tied to it, it’s like revving the engine on our dreams. The “Why not me?” that once sounded like doubt now becomes a powerful motivator.

Inspiring a Future with Feeling

So, I encourage you to go beyond visualizing your goals—feel them. Picture the joy and fulfillment of achieving your dreams. Feel the freedom of financial security, the pride in sharing your art with the world, the satisfaction of giving back. Attach those feelings to your goals, and let them be the fuel that powers you forward.

If you’re uncertain about your vision, know that it’s okay. In January, we’ll be holding our annual planning event, where we’ll dive deeper into creating a meaningful vision and setting intentions for the best year yet. This year, I’m refining the experience to make it impactful without overwhelming you, so you can really absorb and act on what you learn.

In the meantime, remember: embrace your vision fully—see it, feel it, believe in it. This journey is about more than just achieving; it’s about living in alignment with your passion and purpose.

Have a wonderful week, and keep asking yourself, “Why not me?” You might just find the answer opens new doors.
